i thought i’d get back to blogging where i somewhat stepped off! once again sorry, i know it was only a week, but consistency is something i really want the blog to be, but the last two weeks at work were comparatively hectic and while i usually try to plan in advance and do all of the photos and writing for the post during the weekend, i just needed some time to veg out and not do anything for a day or two…..so back to makeup!
here in arizona it feels like spring left already, we had a nice amount of weather uniformity for about two weeks and then it got foolishly cold and then back to extremely scorching, even my ac is on! that should not be happening in early april! so even while spring basically feels like it’s never more, i thought i’d let you know how my spring makeup routine is going. i thought i’d be into the bright colors and the easy makeup, but if anything i stayed in my winter attitude towards makeup and kept it smoky in the eyes, medium coverage in the face and cheeks highlighted to subpar sheen! i learned that i like this look when i’m pressed for time.
while i’m currently going through a bit of a breakout – i don’t know how but in the span of a week i’ve gotten four hella painful pimples on my face and it’s taking everything in my to leave it alone – for the majority of spring my skin was doing so well i didn’t even mind the few acne scars that showed. my foundation routine consisted of my continued search for the next foundation of my dreams – which i’ve recently given up on and have decided to stay true to my becca full coverage foundation – and i settled on estee lauder – it’s a fine foundation, but it doesn’t have a pump so i usually end up pouring out too much or too little and it is a bit drying so either i’ve used argan oil to help it moisturize my skin or i’ve added some josie maran illuminizer with it. my one complaint is that i’m just now noticing that it’s not really my shade and will buy something else pronto!
contour the same – smashbox – i just love that contour kit, especially when i’m running low on time and not in the mood to use a blush, their bronzer shade in my kit is perfect and goes with every eye look i do. i have never even touched the “setting/highlight” powder so that’s the only negative about it, but i also started using the smashbox photo finish lid primer that i got as a 100 point perk from sephora; i got two and know for sure i’ll be buying the full size also. i don’t have overly oily eye lids, but this primer makes my eye shadow that much better.
eyes have been three options if i’m honest, lorac pro 1 of course, viseart petit pro palette and my mac semi sweet times nine palette, i love the colors in all of them, and if i am pressed for time the viseart usually wins because it has fewer colors and i already know the eye look i’ll use for it. cheeks have been a becca party to say the least! i combine both sweet pea and nightingale and it’s just so muted but so beautiful at the same time! i feel like i’m just now sensing a purple theme!
for my lips, besides one odd smashbox color i’ve bought i’ve left lips relatively simple. i use mac’s velvet teen lip pencil (currently on sale) and colourpop’s dukes, creature (no longer available) and pitch. they’re all matte lipsticks and i do it lightly to make them work appropriate.
in terms of highlight for the longest time the cargo highlight stick has been my jam, i bought about three other highlighters after that and i still used it instead, i still do use it but lately the nars blanc de sable highlight palette (limited edition) has been everything! every single shade is useable even on my skin tone and it gives a glossy not shiny effect which is what i always love. i’ve tried both the cargo and nars at the same time, the powder on top of the cream and it was amazing, it made me look like a dewy goddess – maybe that’s a little too far, but still, i couldn’t stop looking at myself! also instead of using a setting spray since the estee lauder foundation isn’t going anywhere despite not using one, i’ve been using my josie maran argan treatment mist spray instead just to add some more moisture to my skin.
i know this isn’t a typical post of mine, i mean in the written and detail sense, but i just wanted to get back into the groove of things – who would have thought a week off would make me feel so out of it – and i also wanted an update on what i’m wearing. i still haven’t found a tripod i like that will hold up my camera but hopefully actual face photos will show up soon! per usual i hope you all enjoyed this post or at least the pictures! thanks for reading and good days (or nights) to you all!
